On Friday, April 10th, Laila Nettles signed to make her college decision final. Nettles was surrounded by friends and family in the Hernando High library. Nettles was the only senior on the team this year. Nettles will be attending Northwest Community College and will be on their dance team. Nettles exclaims how excited she is to finally sign her next 2 years to Northwest.

The Northwest Dance Team is a nationally acclaimed, award-winning competitive team based in Senatobia, MS. The team is coached by Patrice Chrisitian, they are recognized for winning College National titles in open hip-hop and high placements in gameday, under the direction of Coach Christain since 2021. Nettles is excited to be participating in the Northwest dance team next year due to their outstanding program.

Nettles’ younger teammate Trinitie Williams talks about how much fun being on the team with Nettles was and how much better Nettle made everyone around her.

“Dance team with Laila is the best thing ever. She has encouraged me so much as she is a really strong dancer.”

Nettles Coach Candie Garrison, explains how Nettles does everything she is asked plus more like any great athlete should. As well as, how she is everyone’s biggest fan on and off the floor.

“Laila has been a dream to coach. She is such a good athlete, and she comes to practice; does exactly what she is asked”.

Nettle’s career at Hernando will make an everlasting effect on the dance team for many years to come.
