On April 24, one of our star senior football players Elijah Perry commited to play football for Mississippi Delta Community College. After an 7-4 season, and a chance at playoffs for the first time in years, Perry was honored to be on the Hernando football team.
Perry had an outstanding season totaling 46 total tackles, with an interception and a forced fumble. These stats impressed many of the Mississippi Delta coaches.
In the library, Perry was surrounded by friends, teammates, and family members Perry signed a piece of paper that symbolized his commitment to Mississippi Delta Community College (MDCC).
MDCC offers a wide variety of courses, but is best known for its career-technical training. It’s also close to home, located in Moorhead, MS.
When asked about this choice he stated that he was inspired by “Coach Lott” who also attended the college.
Perry said, “He was with me all four years of highschool, so he helped me every single year.”
After Perry signed, first year coach, Zach Kimble began speaking about the accomplishments of Perry and the team as a whole.
Kimble said, “Perry was one of the first players I met, the thing that stands out the most is his character.” Kimble also lamented the loss of Perry as a highschool athlete.
As the signing came to an end, everyone congratulated Perry. His football career has had a big impact on the school and his teammates as well. We would also like to congratulate Elijah Perry and wish him good luck on his future career.
