Legally Blonde at Hernando High School was very fun, and enjoyable to watch. It had singing, comedy and character improvement. For 1 hr 45 min and $7 dollars per ticket, it’s affordable and has a fascinating story, spectacular theatre show. All the actors seemed so energetic, enthusiastic and loving what they were doing and it really made the viewer feel in sync with everyone on the show and understand how it felt to reach what you wanted and just be yourself, not for anyone else, and have fun doing it.
“Elle Woods’ a character that centers around her determination to prove herself to others, specifically academically. She attempts to defy social norms and stereotypes placed on her based off of her looks.
“I resonate with her perseverance in my own life and strive to exemplify her grit and drive in every day challenges. “- Tatum Witt
The story unfolds at Warner Huntington III’s (Max Taylor) side the first of the seemingly perfect couple, who himself comes across as somewhat shallow but ambitious lawyer hopeful is his girlfriend Elle Woods (Tatum Witt) a slim, well dressed college student whose life does not appear to exist beyond this young man. The relationship ending when Warner reveals that he wants “something serious” to date when going to Harvard Law serves as an important turning point in her storyline. In response to the break up, Elle resolutely tells him that she is not unintelligent even when she is in love. This establishes her character, as well as her will to prove herself and Warner, that she can get into law school.
“Warner begins as a typically shallow and ego-driven kind of guy. Elle’s dedication and love for him or what they could be rather is ultimately what drives her to get accepted into Harvard. By the end of the show, however, Warner realizes with Elle’s help that being a good friend and being true to his self gets him farther in life than following people’s expectations of him. “- Lauren Suddoth
In the act in which Elle is entering Harvard in the competitive world that it is, the show illustrates Elle’s struggles on a social and academic level perfectly. Initially, her classmates dismiss Elle as she stands out in the typically professional surrounding in her bright outfit and her extroverted personality. This is Elle’s opposition, the role played by Emma Watson as Vivienne Kensington. She’s so orderly and sensible, unlike Elle’s colorful and positive attitude. Their fights mostly deal with them analyzing each other through the values and where Vivienne’s doubts about Elle’s abilities becomes the core problem which influences Elle’s mindset.
“I think that it definitely reminded me of the importance of putting yourself in someone else’s shoes. For Vivienne, she had to see Elle truly struggle and be at her lowest moment to change her perspective.” – Emma Watson
Beyond the apparent academic relationship that Elle and Emmett have, one of the more unexpected friendships occurs in Paulette Bonafonte. Paulette is a great source of comedy in the show, but also contributes a good emotional aspect too. Her life isn’t perfect and with her as a hairdresser it’s easy for Elle to be confidant and trusting and feel the more personal side to life, she will also advise Elle when her confidence becomes doubtful at Harvard. She influences Elle the most when Elle finds out she has no business at Harvard. After Elle and Emmett worked to get Paulette’s dog back from her boyfriend, and when Elle used her logic to reclaim her own dog, she began to truly feel part of the legal system because she realized that she has the capacity to help other people with her mind that was only just starting to grow. It proves how it is so important to have someone in your life that helps to keep you on track.
“Emmett Forrest brings a kind of warmth to this show that does not go unnoticed. Emmett brings a sense of charisma, humor, sensitivity, and so much love for the people he cares about. As a character he can teach someone that having a “chip on your shoulder” can push you to doing things you never thought you could do. “- Maddox Burgio
Apart from the obvious, academic friendship Elle has with Emmett, one of the more surprising friendships comes in the form of Paulette Bonafonte, played by Rainey Brummett. Paulette’s character gives the show some much needed comic relief but also emotional deepness. A Hairstylist who also is dealing with her own personal problems, she has a more intimate perspective on life, offering advice when Elle begins to second guess herself in Harvard. Her most profound effect on Elle is in a point where Elle thinks that she doesn’t belong in Harvard at all. After Elle and Emmett’s effort to get Paulette’s dog from her ex boyfriend, through Elle applying her lawful thinking to get her dog back, she really starts to feel like she belongs in the legal world, with the knowledge that she can help others with her developing mind.
“Paulette influenced me by reminding me to always have confidence in whatever you do. No matter how much you struggle with it or how messy it looks, there’s always room for growth and a positive mindset. “- Rainy Brummett
The second act opens at the courtroom where Brooke Wyndham, playing herself, the well known fitness guru and mom, is accused of murder. In turn, she demonstrates the show to the audience with a conceited, self-confident attitude and she is quite an interesting character to go along with Elle. Here Elle begin to apply what she learned and notice the details no one else is and use it to the facts for the case, Brooke’s past and daily habit was specifically noticed by her.
Also her, Professor Callahan played by Fernando Tello looked like a suspicious but evil guy. Although Callahan gives Elle a second chance when he offers her his research assistant position, Callahan ends up betraying Elle, which is the hardest thing Elle has to deal with throughout the entire show, where she actually thinks of quitting. With the help of Emmett and Paulette, however, Elle persists. In this case, Elle starts learning to apply the things she has learned and observing the details that others are ignoring and using them as facts for the case, specifically with observations on Brooke’s past and routine. It is also at this part of the show where Professor Callahan, played by Fernando Tello, seems like an interesting yet lawless character. After giving Elle an opportunity by giving her the job as his assistant, Callahan is actually the one who betrays Elle and one of the toughest experiences that Elle has in the show causing her to doubt herself, and consider giving up. However with the help of Emmett and Paulette, Elle sticks with staying
“To me, someone I could relate Callahan to is my father. Although some people may not like them, they are hard workers. They’re respected in their fields from the dedication they output into everything they do. “- Fernando Tello
Many songs in the Act Two within the collection serve to drive plot and develop characters. “Whipped Into Shape,” beginning Act Two, is really effective, and shows Brooke as a powerful individual. “Take It Like a Man” also helps Emmett develop as a character. “Bend and Snap” is sort of the show’s response to “The Twist,” with the student body joining in during the show at school after Elle presents it as her “alibi.” “There! Right! There!” is another great addition that brings a lot of humor into the courtroom. Legally Blonde Remix is an self loving song that sees Elle show off her ability to succeed just the way she is. Finally, the last song from the musical, Find My Way, is uplifting and successfully captures the true meaning of the story and the development of the characters.
In conclusion, Legally Blonde at Hernando High School takes many advantages, such as the music numbers and the performances, and set display It was told well and used the talents of the singers and dancers in the cast to make it entertaining and educational. It was also important in teaching many lessons such as never letting anyone tell you who or what you are and the reward of never giving up on a dream.
