On February 9th, Hernando High School celebrated a milestone as three senior stars from the girls’ soccer team signed with colleges. Elli Reinhardt and Isabella Delgadillo both committed to Itawamba Community College, while Lydia Knabb will continue her soccer career at Northwest Community College.
Head Coach Mark Hogan praised the trio during the signing ceremony, reflecting on their contributions to the team.
“It’s been amazing coaching these girls,” Coach Hogan said. “They’re not only great players, but also great kids. When you have athletes like that, it makes everything easier. Congratulations to them, and I wish them the best of luck in the future.”
All three players are eager to take their talents to the next level.
Knabb, the Tigers’ goalkeeper, made 235 saves over her high school career, with 102 of those coming in her senior season alone. She played a total of 1,860 minutes across 42 games. Her impressive stats earned her a scholarship to Northwest Community College.
Delgadillo scored one goal and played 20 games during her senior year. Her solid performance helped her secure an offer from Itawamba Community College to continue playing soccer at the collegiate level. Looking back on her high school career, she’s excited for what’s next.
“I committed to Itawamba because I love the environment there,” Delgadillo said. “The coaches really represent the game well, and it’s been a great learning experience. I’m so excited for what’s to come next year.”
Reinhardt had an exceptional senior season, scoring eight goals, two assists, and earning 18 points, combining goals and penalty kicks. Her stellar high school performance also landed her a spot on Itawamba’s soccer team. Reinhardt feels that Itawamba is the perfect fit for her next chapter.
“I committed to Itawamba because, honestly, I just wanted to play soccer,” Reinhardt explained. “Being on a team and feeling like part of a family is something I really enjoy, and soccer has always been a big part of my life.”
The Hernando Lady Tigers had an incredible season, finishing second in the district with an impressive 17-4 record, the most wins in a single season in school history. Reinhardt, Delgadillo, and Knabb were key players in the team’s success. Unfortunately, the Lady Tigers’ playoff run came to an end last Monday when they lost to Germantown 2-1, marking the conclusion of these seniors’ high school careers as they now prepare for the collegiate level.
