As the crisp winter air gets colder our school gears up for one of the most exciting weeks of the year, Winter Fest. Winter Fest is a time for students to come together, celebrate the season, and showcase their school spirit. One of the most beloved traditions of Winter Fest is the dress-up week, where students participate in themed days, transforming the school into creativity and fun.
The week, starting with Tuesday, kicks off with a day dedicated to comfort and relaxation, Pajama Day. Students will trade their regular attire for cozy pajamas, slippers, and robes, creating a laid-back day that sets the tone for the week. Whether it’s a onesie, a flannel set, or a favorite character-themed sleepwear, Pajama Day is not just about comfort; it’s also a chance for students to express their personalities.
“I really enjoyed being able to be comfortable my first day back, it was a pretty chill day to me,” Kaylie Seginhi tells us about her first day back from break while wearing her best pajamas.
Wednesday brings the opportunity to unleash creativity with “Wear a Crazy Wig Day.” Students can transform their looks with a wild array of wigs, from vibrant colors and crazy styles to quirky and silly designs. This day encourages students to step outside their comfort zones, and let their imaginations run wild.
“I’m actually happy about being able to wear my rainbow mohawk, I’ve wanted an excuse to wear it around school all last semester,” Savana Stewart quotes with a smile on her face and a rainbow mohawk on her head.
Thursday takes a nostalgic turn with “Class Generations Day.” Each class represents a different generation, offering a glimpse into the evolution of fashion and trends. Freshmen embrace the innocence of babyhood, wearing adorable outfits and accessories. Sophomores navigate the awkwardness of the teenage years, with the classic teenage styles. Juniors step into the roles of middle-aged parents, complete with the latest fashion trends. Seniors embody the wisdom and experience of senior citizens, embracing classic styles and accessories. This day is not just about fashion; it’s a celebration of the different stages of life and the unique perspectives that each generation brings.
As the week continues in Winter Fest, the final dress-up day, Friday, will be “Winter Fest Day,” where students are encouraged to wear white and blue. This theme embodies the spirit of winter, with white representing the snowy landscape and blue symbolizing the icy beauty of the season. Students can get creative with their outfits, incorporating winter-themed accessories and creating a sense of unity and anticipation for the main event, the pep rally.
“I really enjoyed the boy’s dance, I think it was a great addition to Winterfest including all the pretty blues and white skirts,” Becca Yoki says as she watches the pep rally.
