With the large popularity of the second parts of Wicked, Five Nights at Freddy’s, Stranger Things, and Zootopia, plenty of new merch has been released throughout multiple businesses. One brand in particular has also released new products, bringing attention to their possible downfall.
Funko Pops have been a hit since 2010, when they became official after a similar small brand that was created before Funko was gaining popularity. In the years that Funko Pop has been around, they have expanded their sells to not just their widely popular vinyl figurines, but have since then created plushies, keychains, clothing, and accessories too.
Funko has a large range of fandoms that they make products for. On the Funko Pop website, the category “fandoms”, has nine sections for topics that they have products for. These categories consist of, anime and manga, animation and cartoons, comics and superheroes, movies and TV, music, sci-fi, sports, retro toys, and video games. Funko also has a wide variety of companies they work with, some big brands being Disney and Universal. With this, their brand motto, “Everyone is a fan of something” really does fit.
Funko Pops are sold in thousands of stores globally and their company has about 3.1 million followers on Facebook and 3.2 million followers on Instagram. So if marketing and availability aren’t the problem for this risk, what is?
In simple terms, the people just lost interest. In 2022, Funko had made a revenue of about 1.32 billion dollars, but this revenue decreased to only 250.9 million dollars in the year 2025. This large drop of sales has not gone unnoticed. On November 6, 2025, a Q-10 (which is a quarterly report that includes information about a company’s financial statistics) expressed information that revealed that there is a possible Chapter 11 Bankruptcy Risk. This is the risk of a business not being able to pay its debts, leading to the business failing. This created doubt of Funko not being able to survive another 12 months.
To fix this growing concern, Funko will have to find a way to solve this issue, their options likely consisting of reducing expenses, boosting their sales, or finding a way to reduce their debt load.
Funko Pops have been quite popular for the past several years, but now their popularity might die to bankruptcy. This is highly possible, so grab those pops before they’re gone!
