The popular and thrilling show titled ‘Stranger Things’ produced by the Duffer Brothers, Matt and Ross Duffer, are releasing a new season of their show to bring our favorite characters’ stories to a close.
Stranger Things Season five has a phased release on Netflix: Volume one arrives on November 26, 2025, followed by Volume two on December 25, 2025, and the series finale, Volume three, on December 31, 2025. The first volume will have four episodes, the second three, and the finale will be released as its own event.
Before we get to the end of the story, lets have a little reminder of what’s happened so far.
Season 1
The disappearance of Will Byers on Nov, six, 1983, kicks off the story. His friends Mike, Dustin, and Lucas, along with his mother Joyce, discover he was abducted by a monster from the Upside Down. They are aided by Eleven, a mysterious young girl with special abilities who has escaped from the nearby Hawkins National Laboratory. The season introduces the Upside Down, the Demogorgon, and the government experiments conducted at the lab. It also establishes the central group of friends and the supernatural connection between Will and his mother, Joyce, through the use of Christmas lights she hangs on the wall that correspond with letters so then will could communicate to her from the upside down.
Season 2
Will is rescued from the Upside Down, but he continues to experience psychic visions of a monstrous entity in a dark, alternate dimension. The friends investigate this new threat, which is revealed to be the Mind Flayer, a powerful creature from the Upside Down that is trying to invade their world. The season expands on the lore of the Upside Down and introduces new characters like Max Mayfield and her stepbrother Billy. It also explores Eleven’s backstory and her journey to find her place in the world.
Season 3
The summer of 1985 sees the gang dealing with the Mind Flayer, which has possessed a portion of the local population through the Starcourt Mall, and the Soviet Union’s attempts to reopen a gate to the Upside Down beneath the mall. The season sees the group dynamic change as some of them grow up and move away. The Mind Flayer and the Soviet threat are both defeated, but at the cost of Dustin’s girlfriend, who was eaten by the Mind Flayer.
Season 4
This season takes place in 1986, with the group scattered across the country. A new and terrifying monster from the Upside Down, Vecna, begins murdering teenagers in Hawkins. Eleven moves to California with the Byers family and struggles to regain her powers. The season reveals the origins of the Upside Down and the connection between Vecna, Dr. Brenner, and Eleven. The group is forced to band together once again to face this new threat and save their town.
Now that everyone is caught up, lets see about the new and final season of Stranger Things.
Stranger Things Season 5, Episode 1, titled “The Crawl,” is a flashback that shows the original 1983 disappearance of Will Byers in the Upside Down. The episode opens with a younger Will, having survived for several days, hiding in a version of Castle Byers as a Demogorgon closes in. He eventually flees but is captured and taken to what will later become Vecna’s lair. The episode serves as a full-circle moment, explaining what happened to Will and establishing the new, more dangerous world created by Vecna’s new gate and the spreading rifts.
The episode will be directed by the Duffer Brothers and is scheduled to premiere on November 26, 2025.
Not enough details are known about the other upcoming episodes, but fans speculate they will build on the Dungeons & Dragons theme of the show, along with building on the last season’s events.
