A tradition for years, Hernando Band Night continues to bring the community together in one of the most anticipated evenings of the fall season. On Tuesday, November 4th, our HHS Marching Band and all three of our HMS Bands performed their absolute best on Anthony Jenkins Field. With the cost of a five-dollar entry, the night had an amazing turnout! The stands were packed with proud parents, band families, and friends, cheering them on and admiring every moment of the incredible performances.
The evening opened with a warm welcome and a feeling of hometown pride that could be felt across the entire stadium. The Hernando Middle School beginner, concert, and symphonic bands took the field first, showcasing the impressive growth and hard work of Hernando’s younger musicians. Their performances highlighted the strong foundation being built at the middle school level — the very training ground that feeds into Hernando High School’s award-winning program. The younger students showed discipline, teamwork, and enthusiasm that wowed the audience and foreshadowed a bright future for Hernando’s band community.
Before the marching band started their performance, they announced all of the Hernando Band seniors! Performing the show for one of the last times. Getting recognized and earning their HB blankets and wearing them through the whole performance!
When the Hernando High School Marching Band took the field, the crowd erupted. Their show Flipped was a stunning example of precision, energy, and musical excellence — a reflection of why the HHS band has earned so many statewide honors, including multiple Grand Champion titles and All-Superior ratings across Mississippi competitions. In 2025 alone, the HHS Band received straight Superior ratings, first in class, and took home Grand Champion honors at several regional events. Their continued success is a testament to the talent, dedication, and hard work of both students and directors.
The highlight of the evening came when the HMS and HHS bands joined forces for a powerful combined performance. Over 300 musicians filled the field, their sound echoing through the stadium in perfect harmony. For the younger students, it was a chance to perform alongside their future bandmates — a glimpse into the next step of their musical journey. For the high school members, it was an opportunity to mentor and inspire the next generation, reinforcing the deep bond shared between both programs.
Events like this remind the community why music education matters. Hernando Band Night isn’t just about performance — it’s about pride, unity, and tradition. The dedication of both directors, staff, and students proves that the Hernando band family is stronger than ever, and that the future of music in Hernando is incredibly bright.
