The Courthouse renovation started in November of 2025, which paused all events; including the Farmers Market. Thankfully, it has been announced that the Farmers Market is set to reopen on April 25th.
The Farmers Market boasts excellent local food, fruit, vegetables, honey, canned items, milk, meat, artisan items, and even more that has been missed by vendors and residents alike for the time its been gone.
Many have said they miss the community and the “Fresh Local Experience” that it provides. Live music, great food, and freshly brewed coffee is enjoyed by many and people are ready to get back to their weekend Farmers Market outings. Many leave reviews that gush about their experience.
“Fresh produce, dairy, coffee, crafts, and music.” says one person. Another customer leaves.
“Wonderful people selling yummy food and crafts.” While someone else says.
“Good place to get vegetables and prices are good.”
The Farmers Market hosts more than 70 farmers, food and crafters, and cottage food that sell their goods at the local gathering. Customer and vendor experience is also actively collected to ensure the experience of both customers and vendors.
As of now the courthouse, which was built in 1942, is having renovations done to its sidewalks, landscaping, interior qualities, railings, and accessibility. According to Desoto County News Supervisor Ray Denison says that the courthouse is not only a landmark, but is also a functional government center.
“This building isn’t just a landmark. It’s a working courthouse that serves the people of DeSoto County every day…These updates will make it more accessible, more efficient, and even more beautiful.”
Adding onto that statement, Board President Mark Gardner spoke about the courthouse’s historical and present importance.
“Our Historic Courthouse is one of the most recognized symbols of DeSoto County…These renovations honor its legacy while making sure it continues to serve residents and visitors safely and comfortably. It’s an important investment in preserving our history and preparing for the future.”
So get ready to get back to your favorite products, vendors, and community on April 25th when the Farmers Market will make its grand return.
