This year’s volleyball season has been very special for a multitude of people, but especially for the senior players that signed to continue their career in college.

On November 10, Amberlee Holley signed to the Mississippi University for Women that is located in Columbus, Mississippi. She was the first athlete to ever sign from the new Hernando High school.

Holley’s career first began in middle school and she takes the time to appreciate her biggest inspiration, her mom. Holley tells us,

“My biggest inspiration would definitely be my mom. She supports me in anything and everything I decide to do. I couldn’t ask for anybody better to be next to me, she’s my best friend.”

Amberlee Holley is ready to continue on with her volleyball career with a strong support system from her peers and family.

Next, on November 13, Ryan Brown and Kylee Garcia signed to their colleges. Ryan Brown signed with Northeast Community College. Kylee Garcia signed with Northwest Community College.

Ryan Brown said leadership and communication mattered most this season.

“Being a leader and being vocal is very important, especially to our freshmen,” she said.

Brown finished with 139 sets played, 85 kills, 115 triple blocks and 50 digs. Her advice to younger players is simple:

“Never let anyone tear you down.”

She chose Northeast Community College to continue her playing career.

Kylee Garcia had several college offers but chose Northwest Community College.

“I decided to pick Northwest because it’s closer to home, and I already know a lot of girls on the team and the coach,” she said.

Garcia said her biggest challenge has been balancing academics.

“Definitely keeping up with grades and staying successful,” she said.

Together, Holley, Brown and Garcia leave a lasting mark on Hernando volleyball, setting a standard of leadership, hard work and heart for the players who follow.
