Landry Franks, a standout libero and defensive specialist for the Hernando High School volleyball team, recently signed her commitment to East Central Community College at November 2024. Franks has made an indelible mark on her high school team, accumulating an impressive 327 career digs and 33 aces.
When asked about her decision to commit to East Central, Landry shared her excitement about the environment and coaching staff, saying, “I really love the environment and the coaching staff. They have the major I want to pursue.” Although she received no other offers, Franks is confident that East Central is the right fit for her both athletically and academically.
In college, Landry plans to major in business or something related to forensics and psychology. She understands the challenges that come with being a student-athlete, noting that balancing academics with athletics will be tough, but she’s ready to put in the work to succeed both on the court and in the classroom.
“I plan to contribute to my new team by being a leader, always working hard on and off the court,” Landry stated. Her commitment to leadership is not new—she’s already had a huge impact on her high school team, where the bond between teammates remains her favorite memory. “How all of us were just a family, having a really close bond, and I love each and every one of them,” she said with a smile.
Coach Cross has been a key figure in Landry’s volleyball journey. “She has always been really encouraging, giving advice on and off the court,” Landry shared, crediting Coach Cross for inspiring her growth as an athlete.
As Landry embarks on her collegiate journey, she leaves this advice for underclassmen: “Just always work hard, hard work pays off.” With her determination and leadership, Franks is sure to make an impact at East Central and beyond.
