Fall is an amazing time of year, offering a unique blend of nature’s beauty and fall’s festive activities. As the leaves change colors and start to fall, and the temperature starts to drop to the perfect temperature for outside activities, many people are drawn to outdoor attractions. There are a wide variety of activities surrounding us such as haunted houses and pumpkin patches, as well as the start of the Christmas shopping season. Whether you’re exploring a corn maze, looking for the perfect pumpkin to carve or simply taking in the fresh crisp air, there’s something about the fall season that invites everyone to embrace the outdoors and create memories.
1. Cedar Hill Farms – This is one of the Mid South’s Top Rated Haunted Attractions. Located in Hernando, Mississippi, the haunted farm starts October fourth and takes place every weekend until November second. This attraction includes: the Trail Of Terror, Sensturbia, a zombie apocalypse paintball activity, a haunted hayride, and a Corn Maize. Private fire pits are also available for groups. They are also open during the week, so don’t forget to stop by and shop their pumpkin patch. They have a great variety to choose from!
2. Haunted Web Scream Park – This Park is located in Memphis Tennessee and includes many haunted house attractions like The Residence, Slotch Sanatorium, The Yard, and Voo Doo Village. Feeling Hungry? Take a stop by there snack bar called “Sinister Snacks”. Discover an otherworldly fusion of fear and flavors that heightens your experience at Haunted Web Scream Park.
3. Hernando Farmers Market – Grab your family and friends to walk around Hernando’s square and experience this tradition that takes place every year. Many local businesses set up each weekend from May to October to provide you with a variety of meats, vegetables, hand made crafts and more. There are many one of a kind items that you will not find anywhere else. Take a stroll and enjoy all that our local business owners have to offer.
4. Hernando Dickens Of A Christmas – Catch a deal on all of your local Hernando shops during this event, and don’t forget to bring your family and friends to tag along at the ice skating rink! When you arrive you will be greeted by a group of victorian dancers at the front of the courthouse. Hop on the Historic Carriages, and take a tour around the historic downtown to to get an idea of what life was like in Desoto County during the victorian period.
5. Mid-South Maze – This event starts Saturday, October 5th and is open every weekend in October, including on halloween! The maze is located in Memphis, Tennessee at the Agricenter. Visit the maze during the day for the family friendly version, or attend at night for the haunted version. Not only is there the maze, but there is a haunted hay ride, corn cannons, and more. If you’re hungry, s’mores are also sold on site.
As the fall comes to an end, the memories stay year round leaving us with a sense of warmth and remembrance. As we transition to winter, the spirit of fall remains in our head and hearts reminding us of the beauty and joy the season brings.
