The Hernando High School Tigers Dance Team continues to build on its proud legacy of spirit, skill, and success. At this year’s Mid-South Regional Dance Competition, the Tigers delivered standout performances, earning 2nd place in their Game Day routine and 4th place in Hip Hop. Their strong showing not only made their school proud but also proved that the team is steadily climbing toward an even bigger goal—qualifying for nationals.
The Hernando High School Dance Team has been an important part of school culture for many years. From performing on the sidelines of Friday night football games to taking the stage at major competitions, the Tigers have always represented their school with enthusiasm and pride. Over time, the program has grown in both size and reputation, becoming known throughout North Mississippi for its work ethic, precision, and team spirit. Many of its alumni have gone on to dance in college programs, carrying with them the same discipline and passion they learned as Hernando Tigers.
This year’s regional competition was one of the most competitive yet, but the Tigers rose to the challenge. Under the direction of Coach Anna Karr and sponsor Candie Garrison, the dancers spent months perfecting their routines. Their Game Day performance captured the true spirit of Hernando High—sharp motions, energetic chants, and the kind of crowd engagement that keeps the stands on their feet. Earning 2nd place in this category showed just how connected the team is to their school community.
Their Hip Hop routine showcased another side of the Tigers. With bold choreography, high energy, and powerful stage presence, they proved their versatility as performers. Finishing 4th in such a competitive division demonstrated just how far the team has come. Every solo, jump, and formation reflected the countless hours of practice and the passion each dancer brings to the floor.
Beyond the trophies and rankings, this season’s results highlight the team’s steady improvement and growing confidence. Coach Karr and Mrs. Garrison have worked hard to guide the dancers not only as athletes but as leaders and teammates. Their encouragement and commitment have helped transform the team into a close-knit group with big goals ahead.
With their recent success at Regionals, the Hernando High School Dance Team is setting its sights on nationals—a goal that once seemed out of reach but now feels within their grasp. But first they have to conquer state competition. Their drive, talent, and teamwork continue to push them to new levels of excellence. Each season, they prove that with heart, dedication, and Tiger pride, anything is possible.
The future looks bright for the Hernando High School Dance Team, and if their latest performances are any indication, they’re only getting stronger.
