On October 21, 2025, our Hernando Choir Performed at the Hernando Performing Arts Center.
At this performance, Bel Canto, the boys, and Advanced Treble performed, representing Hernando High School.
Each choir sang about three to four songs, some of which were originally solo pieces. Beech had explained after the performance that he chose the solo songs so that any singer who would want to continue their singing career in college will know how to sing a solo song like Caro mio ben, The Lord is My Shepard, and When I have Sung My Songs.
“A lot goes into the selection of the songs, you have to look at the group and play to their strengths and go from there, I usually try to pick, for a concert, a fast song and a slow song.” Says choir director Dale Beech when explaining the process of picking the songs that the choirs worked on.

Mr. Beech didn’t just choose these songs on his own, he had help from the singers themselves.
“We did a vote on BAND and Mr. Beech gave us the choice of four songs and we voted on which one we wanted to do and that’s how we picked it.” Shares Audrey Smith, Advanced Treble member. This was the selection for what songs the choirs sang at their concert.
Opening the concert, the Bel Canto Treble Choir sang Caro mio ben, Finding A Breeze, and Metsa Telegramm (Estonian Folk Song). Following Bel Canto’s performance, the Tenor Bass Choir sang The Lord is My Shepherd, Sing, O My Heart, and Crossing the Bar. Lastly, the concert was finished with the Advanced Treble Choir singing When I Have Sung My Songs, Psalm 23, Misericordia, and Cry Out And Shout!.
The choirs work on a variety of songs, even though they weren’t all performed at this fall concert. The singers have about six performances each semester. Some performances that have already occurred include singing the national anthem at Hernando High School’s homecoming game, and an Advanced Treble Choir performance that took place at Coldwater United Methodist Church on October 12. But this won’t be all, for the choir still has many performances to come.
These choirs will continue to show off their skill, passion, and hard work with the holiday season coming up. So stay tuned to help Hernando support our singers.
