Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure, written by Hirohiko Akari, needs no introduction. If you’re an anime, or even just general pop culture, fan, there’s a 99% chance you’ve heard of JJBA. The iconic series is known for its bizarre plots, emotional relationships and deaths, and relatable characters. To sum up the nine parts, JJBA follows the Joestar bloodline across generations as they fight their individual villains, until their universe was reset (no spoilers as to why!) in part six. Parts seven through nine follow an alternate universe built after the reset of the world parts one through six is set in, leaving us to where JJBA is today.
Even though there’s no new manga releases announced for anytime soon, Jojo fans are not running out of any new media. On April 12, 2025, JOJODAY was held in Tokyo, where the anime adaptation for Steel Ball Run, or part 7, was announced, with the release date being set for some time in spring 2026. Steel Ball Run is notorious for being Jojo’s best manga part, and many agree that Akari, or even most manga writers, will never be able to reach the peak that Steel Ball Run is again. The manga is set in 1890-1891, and has a much more western, horse riding, American setting than that of its British parallel part, that being part 1 Phantom Blood. There are so many beautiful panels, and the parallels of part 1 and 2’s relationship between a Joestar and a Zeppeli to part 7’s is so interesting, especially since this dynamic was never seen again between parts 3 through 6. Hype for the anime has only continued to grow, as on September 23, a global livestream was held that revealed more information about the anime, such as voice actors, where the anime will be streaming (Netflix exclusively), and even… a TRAILER! While the trailer doesn’t show much, we get a glimpse at the new designs for Lucy Steel, Steven Stills, and Diego Brando, as well as some action shots of Gyro Zeppeli and Johnny Joestar. A main concern was how the horses would be animated, but it is pretty much universally agreed that they look amazing in the trailer. While there are some complaints about Johnny’s redesign, and how the trailer is, excitement for the anime has not been drummed down, and it doesn’t look like it will be anytime soon. It’s been leaked that the anime’s meant to be released on March 19, 2026, but that’s not confirmed by Netflix officially… either way, be prepared!
While Jojo fans wait for these next couple of long, grueling months to pass, they can entertain themselves with JJBA’s brand new game, Ora Ora Overdrive! Ora Ora Overdive is JJBA’s brand new mobile game release, which came out on September 25. It’s a Role-Playing Gacha styled type game, where you, the player, use in game currency to gamble at winning your favorite characters, that can then be used to battle others/villains. The designs and graphics are great, and the animation is beautiful. Despite its early-stage flaws, it’s clear Ora Ora Overdive is not here to disappoint. Sadly, it’s Japan release only right now, but if you’d like to play or know a Jojo fan in your life who would enjoy this game, you can download it on the site QooApp!
With the new anime adaptation on its way, and this new mobile game, it is clear Jojo’s Bizarre Adventures is not going anywhere, and this is just a new era for its iconic story.
