Conservative activist Charlie Kirk assassinated

Sept. 10, 2025 — UTAH VALLEY UNIVERSITY — Charlie Kirk was shot in the neck by Tyler Robinson. Within hours, President Donald Trump announced Kirk’s death on Truth Social at 4:41 p.m. Trump also offered condolences to Kirk’s family.

“The great, and even legendary, Charlie Kirk, is dead,” Trump wrote.

Kirk had been under a tent at Utah Valley University debating multiple topics when a gunshot rang out. He fell from his chair as blood poured from his neck.

Sophie Anderson told the Daily Mail, “He was just a fountain of blood.”

Videos from attendees at the first stop of Kirk’s 14-city “American Comeback Tour” circulated on social media. The footage appeared to show a targeted attack, with a single shot fired. No audience members were hit.

Within hours of the shooting, a manhunt was declared for Robinson. According to the BBC, the manhunt lasted exactly 33 hours. On Sept. 12, 2025, he was turned over to the police by his own father and pastor after saying he wanted to take his life.

Many people around the world are mourning the loss of Charlie Kirk, including residents of Hernando, Mississippi. On Sept. 12, 2025, the town held a candlelight vigil from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Many people attended, and others drove by, honking their horns. Several people spoke about Kirk and the country’s political state.

The tour is set to continue, as is Kirk’s podcast, “The Charlie Kirk Show.” There have been mass vigils and stadium gatherings in his name.

Kirk, born Oct. 14, 1993, was a political activist, social media influencer, and father of two. He was known for his right-wing stances and his ability to debate. He co-founded Turning Point USA and served as its executive director. Kirk often traveled to college campuses to debate, with many of his appearances going viral on TikTok and Instagram.
