On opening day, 6893 Goodman Road East had a line backed up all down the street; car after car waiting to just get a coffee. Many outsiders passed by in awe, the talk of the town being an argument over whether a cup from a chain-store coffee shop was worth the wait.

Hearing of the commotion, I decided to drive to Olive Branch and see what the hype is about.

With its first location opening in 2017 in Rogers, Arkansas, 7 Brew Drive Thru Coffee began with 7 original flavors and the concept of “cultivating kindness and joy with every drink-through service, speed, quality, energy, and atmosphere.” This concept soon spread across the country, growing the chain to 451 stands with the latest being right here in Olive Branch, Mississippi.

I asked customer Kate Parbs, someone who claims to have often driven all the way to Memphis, Tennessee, just for a cup of the chain coffee, about her thoughts on the new 7 Brew.

“I’ve never been a big coffee drinker,” Parbs stated, “but something about 7 Brew is special.”

Parbs starts many of her mornings off with a cup of 7 Brew, something she claims she would not do with any other chain coffee shop.

“The people who work there are just so nice. It’s just an enjoyable atmosphere,” she says.

When I arrived at 7 Brew, dread filled me as I saw a line stretching back to the street. I figured I would have to wait twenty minutes just to have my order taken. Surprisingly, I was off the road and being greeted by an employee in under ten minutes.

When walking up to my car window, the 7 Brew server greeted me with a friendly smile, taking my order with patience since I had never been there before. I ordered an iced caramel coffee with cold foam, something I would get almost anywhere else, and it was out as soon as I pulled up to the window.

Like Parbs told me, 7 Brew stands out from other coffee shops not because of the physical cup of coffee, but because of the atmosphere you get with the beverage.

7 Brew is a great new addition to Desoto County because of both its great drinks and service. It is clear that as long as they uphold their “Service with a smile” outlook, the business is sure to continue to boom here in Olive Branch.
