HERNANDO, Miss. — Jules Sartain, Kylee Garcia, Addie Kate Carter, Amberlee Holley, Morgan Ferrell, Gwyneth Michael and Ryan Brown have proudly represented Hernando High School’s black and gold since 2022.
Throughout the past four years, the seniors have worked hard to build their legacies, both on and off the court. In a recent game against Center Hill, the group displayed determination and mental toughness, proving they are ready to finish their high school careers strong.
Carter and Michael plan to attend Mississippi State University. Brown and Garcia will continue their athletic careers at Northeast Mississippi Community College and Northwest Mississippi Community College in Senatobia, respectively.
One of the group’s favorite memories is a trip to Foley Beach, Alabama. Carter recalled spending countless nights at the beach and enjoying the bus rides. Brown named dining at Cobalt, The Restaurant, as her favorite experience, while Ferrell said she most enjoyed karaoke at the beach.
Before each game, the players follow individual pregame rituals to get into the zone. Brown listens to Bryson Tiller’s song Keep Doing What You’re Doing to focus mentally. Carter sings with teammates in the locker room to bring energy. Ferrell styles her hair just right for game day. Garcia and Michael blast music to pump themselves up, while Holley dances around the locker room to ease nerves. Sartain tunes into music with her teammates to create a shared vibe.
Together, these rituals build spirit and team chemistry before they take the court.
The Tigers look forward to a strong finish to the season.
