Last Saturday, Hernando High School threw its annual Winterfest dance. With the dance being postponed two weeks because of snow, kids were so excited for the dance to finally arrive. This year, it was held at Cypress Hall, and it was a beautiful setup. They stuck with the winter theme, hanging beautiful white decor everywhere. Students danced the night away with friends and significant others.
Before the dance, kids loaded into cars and headed to the square, a big tradition the students do. They go with all their friends and take pictures. Some people also go to the railroad tracks. The most popular thing to do, though, is breakfast with your dance group. Usually, one person will host and will have brunch foods, and all the girls and boys will be able to hang out–some even get ready together.
One of the best parts of a dance is picking out the perfect dress or suit; the students did a great job finding the most beautiful outfits. They covered the dance floor in blue, white, black, and even gold. There were a few with sparkles, some with intricate designs. Each and every one was as special as the other. The boys dressed extremely nice too; there were tuxes and dress pants and button-up shirts.
Students said their favorite part of this year’s dance was the music and the venue. Some of the top songs played were Ode to Bourbon by Treaty Oak Revival, Baby by Justin Bieber, and Fein by Travis Scott. The students also enjoyed the venue more because it had “more room than last year,” according to Jackson Hall. Overall, this year’s winter formal was a fan favorite between students and even the amazing staff that helped put it all together.
