Whataburger recently had its grand opening, and it was a huge success. Whataburger opened on Tuesday, December 3rd at 11:00 am. This is the third location to open in Desoto County within the past two years.
Manager, Stephanie Viviano, has high hopes for the future of Hernando’s newest business.
“My goal is to be the hometown burger place for Hernando,” Viviano told The Golden Report. Viviano continued, “It’s doing really well, we have a really motivated team, a lot of people putting in a lot of hard work.”
For the grand opening, Miss Magnolia and an Elvis impersonator joined in on the festivities. In honor of the grand opening, the new business also rewarded the first three customers with free Whataburger for a year. They also had goodie bags available for the first 100 customers.
Whataburger offers a wide-ranged menu, selling a variety of items from coffee to burgers. The most popular item on the menu is their Honey BBQ Chicken Strip Sandwich. They also offer a fair amount of fan-favorite burgers, such as their breakfast burger. In addition to burgers, they offer seasonal items such as the peppermint milkshake. One reason Whataburger is so popular is that their burgers are made fresh with 100 percent pure, never-frozen beef.
Whataburger originally started in Corpus Christi, Texas in 1950. It was founded by Harmon Dobson. Even though it’s been 74 years since the business opened, the company still honors Dobson’s core values. These values include, ‘Doing work that makes you proud, being grounded in history while also being innovative, providing a fun, creative, and supportive work environment, and sharing thoughts, feelings, and rationale early and often.’
With the newest addition of Whataburger to Desoto County, Viviano is trying to build her staff. Right now, she is focusing on gaining overnight employees because Whataburger is a 24-hour fast food joint. When she starts to see growth from the business, she will hire more day shift employees.
Overall Whataburger has had a successful first few weeks. If it keeps at this pace, it can become the go-to burger place for Hernando.
