On November 16, our Dance Team won 3rd place for their HipHop and Gameday routines, making a comeback from earlier this season, where they didn’t place near as high.
On October 26, 2024, the Dance Team competed in their Gameday routine at the mid-south competition. At this competition, eight teams competed, with the HHSDT getting 8th place. Instead of getting discouraged, the dancers used this disappointing experience as motivation to push to their fullest potential at practice and on the dance floor. Freshman Eden Ford says that getting last “really pushes ourselves past a limit we had”.
Practices included the girls watching themselves and their teammates helping each other find ways they can improve their performance and score on the floor. They practiced their Gameday routine about 40 times before they performed on the competition floor. Practices did become more intense with conditioning and practicing routines, but their hard work paid off.
November 16, 2024 Regionals was held at Brandon High School, where our Dance Team performed Hip-Hop and Gameday. Junior, Reagan Peterson feels that “we did really well, we probably could’ve done better, but I think that for our second comp that it was a great performance and that we really came together as a team”.
Before going on stage the dancers enjoy their traditions of carrying Ellie the Elephant and having Pixie Sticks. Brianna Baker, sophomore shared that she likes traditions because “it makes [her] feel confident knowing that [they] have something guaranteed to support [them]”. More traditions are created throughout the years *finish* Different dancers had different feelings about going on the floor, some being nervous and others feeling confident, despite this the girls danced their best, winning third place!
Coach, Elizabeth Swindell talks about the team growth by saying, “Our team has been working so hard this competition season! They have each grown so much since the beginning of the season and I can’t wait to see how they finish it out!”
