On Friday, November first, our Hernando Tigers started the new month off strong by showing off their best talents and impressive skills. There were nine acts in total, each unique in its own way. The acts ranged from solo singing to fashion shows, each sparking amusement from the crowd.
Soloists:
The first solo act of six was Emma Watson singing a school favorite, “Hot To Go“ by Chappell Roan. Emma went all out not just singing with true skill and passion, but also entertaining her audience. Her great performance won her the “Best Individual” award.
The next solo act was another singer, Priscilla Garcia, who shared a passionate performance of Miley Cyrus’s “The Climb”
The fourth act was Naveah Williams, singing a favorite by Bruno Mars and Lady Gaga “Die With A Smile.” With many of her peers cheering her on, she continued to smile and sing beautifully.
In the sixth act, Jaxon Scalisi performed “The Impossible Dream” from the Broadway Musical Man of La Mancha. His powerful and full singing voice blew the audience away.
In the seventh act, Lex Crossman sang “Try Everything” from the Disney Pixar movie “Zootopia“. Her performance sparked joy throughout the entire HPAC, winning her the “People’s Choice Award”.
The eighth act is the last solo song of the night performed by the well-loved teacher Mrs. Hicks singing, she did an amazing job considering there was a mishap with the microphone, giving the crowd a little chuckle, she continued with her performance like any good performer, and did an amazing job showing students that teachers can do so much more than we know.
Group acts:
Onto the group acts, the third act of the show was seniors SNL which was Roblox’s famous game, dress to impress. When the crowd first learned their act’s theme they cheered in excitement. Many of the clothes worn were silly homemade dresses made from recycled items. The outfits ranged from bubble wrap, garbage bags, cut-up clothes, knitted sweaters, and some store-bought costumes. The audience enjoyed this skit so much that they voted the seniors as the best group of the night.
The next group act, the 5th act overall, the soccer girls performed “Bikers vs. Surfers” from Teen Beach Movie. The soccer girls were dressed in leather jackets, fake heavy jewelry, and inflated guitars while the other half of the girls were dressed in Hawaiian button-downs, leis, and beach shorts. They originally danced in a group then switched to the opposite side to perform a dance battle between the two styles. The student population enjoyed this dance so much that the girls won the “Most Crowd Participation” award. In the ninth act, the final act of the night, the football boys performed a skit “From Halloween to Christmas.”
The overall talent show was an absolute hit with great crowd participation. The crowd showed great support for each act by singing along and flashlight surfing as well as clapping and cheering for the participants at the end. At the end of the show, the crowd voted for their favorite act in each category.
Congratulations to all the winners!
