At the Hernando HPAC, Hernando’s Choirs performed a stunning concert to finalize their fall season. The doors opened at 5:45 p.m. and the concert began at 6:00 p.m. The concert opened with Amelia Pittman and Adrienne Wiley, both from Bel Canto, reciting a speech before they performed.
“The concert went pretty well and I felt pretty good about it.” Ella McCafferty states.
Opening the concert, Bel Canto Treble Choir sung Jubilate Deo and Seesereye. For the opening of Seesereye, they had a duet with Emma Watson, grade 9, and McKayla Wolf, grade 10, with Steven Oswalt on the drums.
“I think the concert went well! Very fun and we finished relatively quick.” Paige Moore from Bel Canto explains.
Following Bel Canto, the Advanced Treble Choir sang For a Child followed by Of the Earth.
“I loved the songs, but I would have changed the amount of songs everyone sang. I’d say that Advanced Treble and Bel Canto could have had one more song each.” Caroline Eaton from Advanced Treble Choir states.
As the third choir to perform the boys were chosen to be featured with four songs, Jesus Must Bear the Cross, If…, A Little Song of Life, and Good News to close with.
“I think the concert went really well. We had lots of people there and everyone sounded amazing!” Eaton states.
The concert ended around 6:45 p.m. with all of Hernando’s choirs singing The Storm is Passing Over together.
Mr. Beech tells us that it was “an upbeat song, a feel good song to end the concert and to incorporate all of the students into one song.”
Hernando Choirs’ will be performing multiple more times over the year, including their regular concerts at the HPAC. The tenors and bases will be singing at the Veteran’s Day Parade luncheon. In December the boys will be singing with one of the middle school choirs and Oak Grove Elementary School for Christmas concert. Along with this, the choirs will be having another joint concert in the spring and the Cabaret to end the year with.
“I’m really looking forward to singing songs in different languages and singing with different tones.” McCafferty explains as what she is looking forward to the most with the upcoming year.
